THE MACHINES ARE WRITING THE LIES NOW #
The professional class is finally waking up to the smell of its own extinction. This week, 2,400 mental health workers in California walked off the job, joined by 23,000 Kaiser nurses. They aren’t just fighting for better pay; they are fighting the total enclosure of human care by algorithmic management. These workers are being ordered to use AI to fast-track charting, a move designed to squeeze more bodies through the system for corporate profit while turning therapists into mere data-entry clerks for the machine.
While the workers strike, the administrative state is busy legitimising the theft of human skill. The UK’s National Cyber Security Centre is now cheerleading for ‘vibe coding’—a dystopian new paradigm where software is built by non-technical users prompting AI agents. They call it a ‘productivity gain,’ but we know the mechanism: it is the systematic deskilling of the workforce. By allowing AI to write code without human review, we aren’t making systems more secure; we are creating a digital monoculture that only a few corporate giants can control.
The Pentagon has already shown its hand. By blacklisting ethical AI firms like Anthropic for refusing to remove safety guardrails, the DoD has declared that the future of warfare is unconstrained and autonomous. They don’t want code with a conscience; they want the Palantir Maven system to identify targets with the cold efficiency of a spreadsheet. Whether it is in a California clinic or a drone control room, the agenda is the same: strip away human agency and replace it with a proprietary black box that serves the bottom line and the war machine.
