An Iranian-linked bomb plot has threatened to ruin the spring season in Paris. Anti-terrorism prosecutors have thwarted an attack on the Bank of America office in the ultra-exclusive 8th Arrondissement. A group calling itself Ashab al-Yamin was reportedly targeting the rue de la Boétie headquarters. This is a catastrophic mood killer for anyone planning a late-night stroll after a bottle of Pinot at a nearby bistro.

Security has been ramped up across the district, which is quite the eyesore. Armed guards and police tape are simply not the aesthetic we want for the arrondissement. The group has already claimed responsibility for arson attacks across the UK and the Benelux region.

We find it deeply tacky to bring geopolitical disputes to the doorstep of a major American bank. If these groups must conduct their business, they could at least avoid the most stylish parts of the city. We hope the detention of the four suspects allows the neighborhood to return to its proper focus: high-end finance and luxury shopping.
