Ukrainian Drones Paralyze Russian Oil Facilities Decimating Output #

Dark, oily toxins are falling from the sky over the Black Sea resort town of Tuapse following a coordinated Ukrainian drone strike on April 16. The attack targeted a Rosneft-owned oil refinery, triggering a massive fire, causing an ongoing oil leak, and halting operations at a critical node of the Russian energy export network.

The kinetic attrition of Moscow's energy infrastructure is accelerating. Ukraine's General Staff confirmed an overnight strike on April 20 that hit the Tuapse storage tank area again. Meanwhile, primary oil processing at the Novokuibyshevsk refinery has been suspended since April 18 following a separate drone assault.

The cumulative destruction is severely degrading the Russian Federation's extraction capacity. According to Reuters, Russian oil producers have been forced to cut output this month by as much as 400,000 barrels per day.

"Against the backdrop of ongoing attacks on Russia's ports and refineries, it will be difficult to place oil without cutting output, especially with upcoming spring maintenance shutdowns," an informed source told Reuters. The targeted dismantling of these hydrocarbon arteries forces Moscow to absorb massive logistical costs just as the global market wrestles with concurrent supply shocks in the Persian Gulf.
