Mullin Will Pull Customs From Defiant Sanctuary City Airports #

Monday, 13 April 2026 · words

The new Secretary of Homeland Security, Markwayne Mullin, has issued a necessary and overdue challenge to the lawless spirit of our age. By threatening to withdraw federal customs officers from airports in 'sanctuary cities,' Mullin is simply pointing out a basic moral truth: a house divided against itself cannot stand. If a city refuses to cooperate with federal law once a person walks out of the terminal, it has no right to demand federal services at the gate. For too long, local politicians in hubs like New York and Los Angeles have played a cynical game, enjoying the economic benefits of international transit while actively sabotaging the national covenant of border security. A border is not a suggestion; it is the wall of the home. When a municipality declares itself a 'sanctuary' from the law, it breaks the trust that binds our states together. Critics warn that such a move would paralyze international travel and damage the economy. They may be right. But what is the value of an economy that has lost its foundation of law and order? We must decide if we are a nation of laws or a collection of bickering fiefdoms. Secretary Mullin is right to prioritize cities that respect our national sovereignty. It is time for our local leaders to choose: they can have their sanctuary from the law, or they can have their seat at the international table. They cannot have both.
