The United States border has officially been converted into a paywall. Under new rules enforced by DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin, travelers from 50 nations must now post 'visa bonds' of up to $15,000 to enter the country. This is the 'Premium Citizenship' model in its most naked form: physical mobility is no longer a right or a diplomatic formality, but a luxury commodity reserved for the global elite.

On the National Mall, the 'No Kings' movement has responded with a propaganda war of satirical monuments. An anonymous collective known as the Secret Handshake has installed a 10-foot golden toilet and statues depicting the President with Jeffrey Epstein. These installations mock the 'Spectacle of Impunity'—the reality where the ruling class renovates White House bathrooms with gold leaf while imposing five-figure entry fees on the world’s poor.

This policy does more than just restrict travel; it reenacts the history of exploitation. By targeting nations in the Global South with these bonds, the administration is effectively financializing the movement of labor. If you cannot afford the bond, you do not exist in the eyes of the state. As James Baldwin once noted, to believe what power says about you is to be defeated. The 'No Kings' protesters are refusing that defeat, using ridicule to pierce the marble and gold facade of an administration that views nationhood as a private club with a massive cover charge.
