Nationhood Cannot Be Sold to the Highest Bidder #
The implementation of $15,000 visa bonds this week marks a tragic shift in the American story. Under the new direction of DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin, our borders have been functionally transformed into a 'Premium Citizenship' club where the right to visit or work in this Republic is determined by the size of one’s bank account. This financialization of our national boundaries is a rejection of the idea that citizenship is a sacred inheritance of history, law, and shared values.
By demanding massive cash bonds from visitors, we are signaling to the world that America is no longer a covenant of people, but a transaction for the global elite. This policy does nothing to address the character of those who enter; it merely filters for their wealth. It is little wonder that 'No Kings' protests have paralyzed our airports. When the government begins to treat the border like a VIP velvet rope at a high-end hotel, it loses the moral authority required to ask for the people's trust and obedience. We must secure our home, but we must do so with the 'warm moral clarity' that remembers we are a nation of laws, not a corporation selling memberships.
